Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia

Mount Santubong

We arrived in Kuching, Sarawak on 7th August 2012 from Singapore. It was a 3 day sail covering 340 nautical miles. We anchored (N 01.42.950, E 110.19.749) in the mouth of Santubong river with a lovely view of the Mount Santubong.

Mount Santubong is 35km north of Kuching, it peaks at 2,660 ft high
Working on some repairs
Enjoying the evening sky
Awesome sky
Another lovely sunset

It was really nice and calm in the river. One of our crew who loves to swim, swam in the river a couple of times. A local came by to warn us not to swim in the river as there were some unfriendly crocodiles around the area. A few days later, we saw one swimming around the boat!!

On 25th August, a man was attacked by a 6½ foot crocodile by the banks of Santubong river!

In other news, we replaced the forestay and also put on the perforated stickers on our windows.

This was also the first time/place I've hitch hiked. Thankful we didn't run into anyone dodgy. The people here are very friendly, and we always managed to get a lift into Kuching town (approximately 20-25 km away).

Malaysia, truly Asia with beautiful & friendly people. My Home :)

We set off for Miri, Sarawak on 29th August.
